NVQ Level 5 in Appointed Person Lifting Operations (Red-Blue CPCS)

This programme is aimed at individuals who hold a red CPCS card for A61 Appointed Persons and need to achieve the relevant NVQ in order to convert to a Blue CPCS Competent Operator Card. Please click for more details.

To recognise your knowledge, skills and competence in lifting operations as an appointed person within the workplace.

Units in this NVQ include:

  •          Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
  •          Planning Lifting Activities Using Cranes and/or Lifting Equipment in the Workplace
  •          Planning and Establishing Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental Systems for Lifting Operations in the Workplace
  •          Planning Activities and Resources to Meet Work Requirements in the Workplace
  •          Evaluating and Selecting Work Methods to Meet Project or Operational Requirements in the Workplace
  •          Planning the Preparation of the Site for the Project or Operation in the Workplace
  •          Identifying, Allocating and Planning the Deployment and Use of Plant, Equipment or Machinery in the Workplace

Methods of Assessment

To achieve the qualification candidates must gather naturally occurring work based evidence which would include some or all of the following:

Customer correspondence, enquiry & site visit request forms

Initial site visit drawings and any related specific paperwork/photographs

Method Statements/Risk Assessments, Job Sheets,

Time Sheets, Crane Duty Charts

Copies of CPCS card and any relevant training certificates

Any other documentation which is agreed as being valid by the assessor and candidate

Qualification/Certification

NVQ Level 5 Diploma

CPCS Blue Competency A61 Appointed Person

(Candidates must have an up to date touch screen Managers & professional Health and Safety Test to apply for the card)
